Admission Procedures

Admission to St. Christopher's (and the Greenburgh-North Castle School District) is by referral of Special Education counselors in your school district. All referrals to St. Christopher's are managed by our Centralized Intake Department for Congregate Care, located on the Dobbs Ferry Campus.

St. Christopher's accepts students for long-term educational and therapeutic placement. Referrals should include:

  • Psychosocial report and family history including current adjustment;
  • Psychological evaluation, preferably within one year. Youth with IQ scores ranging from 70 to 120 will be considered;
  • Psychiatric evaluation within the past year;
  • Current educational information such as grade levels (math and reading) and the current IEP; and
  • Current medical information.

Materials concerning student admission may be sent to the attention of

Jill Bergner, Director of Admission
Centralized Intake Department
St. Christopher's, Inc.
71 S. Broadway;
Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522

Ms. Bergner is available by phone at 914-693-3030, ext 2307; the Intake Coordinator, Karen Safris, can be reached at ext. 2301. Email inquiries may be sent to Ms. Bergner at: jbergner@sc1881.org

Referrals are reviewed within a week of receipt. A member of our Intake staff will contact the family and/or referral source with a decision as to whether the youngster is suitable for further consideration. Youngsters suitable for consideration will be invited to arrange a pre-placement interview to determine whether St. Christopher's can meet the student's service needs and to introduce the student and family to the residential setting prior to placement.
