Sports and Co-Curricular Programs
Sports and athletics, while providing simple enjoyment, can be an important part of personal growth and social development.
A full co-curricular program – including athletics – is also made available to all students in the GNC district. The athletic program currently consists of varsity and junior varsity sports (basketball, track and field, baseball, and others) as part of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Section I, as well as other intermural competition.
Music, drama, art, dance and other clubs, including our annual yearbook, are all part of a growing co-curricular program. A student literary magazine and a visual art magazine are planned for the upcoming school year. Importantly we strive to infuse our co-curricular program with character building values. We emphasize that the ethics, discipline and desire for excellence that sports and other activities require for success are the values that will help a youngster become a productive and positive adult.
In addition to a comprehensive and rigorous regular school year – a full summer school program is also offered to all students. Remedial as well as advanced courses are offered to all students who qualify. The educational program is fully integrated with the Clinical, Residential, and Social Services programs to provide each student the support and guidance needed for academic success.
