Clinical Services

Therapeutic and related clinical services are a vital, valued part of our program. We actively encourage youngsters to participate in treatment and see it as a necessity in leading them to live successful, productive lives.

Students admitted into the intensive services program of St. Christopher's and the Greenburgh North Castle School District have moderate to severe behavior problems and emotional difficulties. Our clinical team - including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers, trained and experienced in the treatment of troubled adolescents – works together in developing a clinical plan for each student. The plan typically includes individual, group, and parent counseling as well as training and is likely to change over time as a youngster's needs change.

Our clinicians utilize cognitive behavioral and other "evidenced-based" approaches in treating the problematic behaviors presented by our student. In cases where medication may be needed, psychiatrists are available to evaluate youngsters and make recommendations. Following the evaluation and prior to any actions being taken, psychiatrists and other professional staff meet with parents and students to discuss findings and recommendations. Students are only administered medication with parents' informed approval. Our board-certified psychiatric staff monitors all residents on medication.
